Craig Geddes

company Director

Craig has been providing amazing adventure education experiences to young people and adults for well over a decade. Having lead school camps and adventure activities with some of the best providers in the world, Craig established The Outdoors People to allow him to better deliver the very best adventure education experiences to as many people as possible.

From the smallest moment, to the loudest camp, to the biggest mountain – he is passionate about the power of the outdoors to change lives. He sees immense value in providing unique, safe and fun experiences that inspire people to be the best "them" they can be.  

Craig is qualified in a wide range of adventure activities including bushcraft, climbing, mountain walking, canoeing and kayaking, and mountain biking.

Clair Giles

Camp Director and Lead Instructor

Clair has worked in the Outdoor Learning sector for twenty years throughout the UK as well as across Europe and New Zealand. She is always passionate about being in the outdoors and is keen to share this enthusiasm with others. She gets great satisfaction from encouraging people to try new things and broaden their horizons and promises us this isn't just code for making people eat bugs!

Clair has a range of qualifications in both land and water based activities and is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning.

Dave Giles

Camp Director and Lead Instructor

More than twenty years ago, Dave studied Outdoor Education at college and hasn't looked back since! Whether he's out sailing or rooting around building shelters in the woods, Dave likes nothing more than introducing people to a challenge and encouraging them to succeed.

Dave has a very wide range of qualifications in both land and water based activities and is one of our most experienced, and loudest, instructors!


Duncan Kendrick

Camp Director and Lead Instructor

With over twenty years experience in Adventurous activities, Duncan has been able to mix his passion and enjoyment for the outdoors with the fulfillment that helping people develop and grow brings. With qualifications and experience in a huge variety of outdoor activities, he appreciates and understands the benefits and excitement of trying things for the first time.

Duncan’s organised and thoughtful approach to learning and development is reflected in his approachable style. He prides himself on being a “people person” and on being able to unlock the potential in everyone.

Aaleah Cabannes

Lead Instructor

Aaleah has worked as an outdoor instructor for the past five years along side her work with Rab outdoors equipment. Initially enjoying adventure activities as a hobby, it quickly turned into a passion and then a career when she decided to study Outdoor Leadership at university. Aaleah has great enthusiasm for teaching others and believes everyone has the potential to succeed.

As well as instructing, Aaleah loves nothing more than getting outdoors to play! She enjoys bushcraft, mountain biking, walking, paddle sports, and, most of all, climbing. There's nothing that satisfies her more than achieving something she initially thought to be impossible.



Anna Burgoyne

Camp Instructor

After several years working in sales and management for leading outdoor retailers, Anna made the move to adventure education and is excited to be out on the hills with people, rather than just selling the equipment to them! A keen mountain biker and munro bagger, Anna loves all outdoor activities and helping others to get out there and see what the outdoors can offer them. She always hopes to see others find the value in what she’s passionate about, not only the excitement and challenges, but also the improvements in mental and physical health.

Anna has a range of qualifications from mountain biking to paddle sports, archery, and more.


Trev Calvert


Trev has sailed across the Pacific Ocean, climbed in the Himalayas and was part of the first team to kite surf the English Channel – raising money for Help for Heroes in the process. He has worked in the great outdoors for over twenty years and is an established mountain leader and mountain bike instructor. He has worked extensively in both the UK and around the globe, spending time in the arctic, jungle and desert. No one is more keen to infuse the younger generation with his passion for the outdoors through his “Teach, Coach and Mentor” approach and detailed knowledge of the education system.

As well as working for The Outdoors People, Trev is also an established freelance Mountain Leader and keen to get people of all ages into the mountains at every opportunity.


Stacy Shepherd

Camp Instructor

Stacy is in the second year of her degree studying Outdoor Leadership and Management at the University of Derby. The mountains are her first love and you’ll often find her walking and wild camping across the UK and Europe. 

Stacy believes there is great value in the power of nature and aims to inspire others to get outside more. She has focused her dissertation on nature therapy and positive green spaces and hopes to go on to work in this field. An active environmentalist and aspiring mountain leader, she believes that by connecting people to nature it will encourage them to protect it. 


Gavin Cassidy

Camp Instructor

Gavin has been working with young people for more than twelve years, facilitating nature-based education programs, environmental awareness activities, and mentor workshops, all over the UK, Ireland, Denmark, and Ecuador. Extremely enthusiastic about anything to do with the natural world, Gavin has a way of enthralling children in team activities that encourages them to enjoy the wonders of nature!

Gavin is a qualified Beach School Practitioner and teaches stone-age craft at countryside parks to primary schools. He is also a very keen gardener in his spare time and enjoys hiking to explore all those wild places, especially Scotland.

His fascination with trees and plants has lead to Gavin launching his own health food company, selling nuts and seeds from all over the planet.

Tim Manning

Tim Manning

Camp Instructor

Tim is a highly experienced Mountaineering Instructor who lives in the stunning Peak District National Park and works throughout the UK. Since an early age he has camped and travelled in some of the most beautiful locations in the UK and the world. Over the years, he has worked as a mental health care worker, and a kindergarten carer. For the last fifteen, years he has been working in adventure education and became a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor in 2016. A newer member of our team, he is rapidly expanding his bushcraft skills alongside our highly experienced team.

Geoff Harman

Camp Instructor

A qualified primary school teacher and outdoor instructor, Geoff has been working with young people of all ages for over twenty years. As a result, he is very passionate about creating fun and exciting learning experiences.

Geoff spent most of his early years moving around and has lived and worked in Asia and North America, as well as the UK. He has finally settled in the North East, but still likes to hit the road and see new places. Geoff is an enthusiastic raconteur and “joke” teller. If you don’t run away fast enough, he may tell you of his world travels and his many and varied experiences.

Geoff holds a variety of outdoor awards in climbing and mountain walking and is currently adding canoeing qualifications to his growing collection.
